Kurzbeschreibung:The Master of Design is designed for students from a range of design or related fields. The course emphasises a mix of interdisciplinary collaboration and provides a project-based, studio environment. Students enhance their expertise within a chosen design field, including visual communication design, industrial design, interior architecture and digital media design.
 
In the Master of Design students undertake a Core stream which is research and practice-based, and one of two interdisciplinary industry-connected streams. The Applied Design stream focuses on design practice and entrepreneurship, and the Design Factory Melbourne stream focusses on design innovation and strategy. In the final year all students undertake a supervised research-informed and design practice-based Major Project which consolidates and integrates their learning from across the course into a substantial professional-quality design outcome.

Master of Professional Design appeals to non-design related practitioners and graduates who wish to upgrade their practice by including design skills as the means to understand and apply the role of empathy in user-centred innovation. 

The course provides students with advanced technical and conceptual skills in design, and uses digital media as both a production and a creative tool. Students will be introduced to design thinking as a means of exploring ways of investigating and understanding complex challenges, and user-focused methods of generating ideas. Students will be encouraged to view the design process as a collaborative activity that generates innovation through making and prototyping.

In the later stages of the course, students will focus on an advanced design application through the production of a major piece of work that will fuse contemporary studio-based practice and theory with rigorous critical analysis.

Zulassungsbedingungen

Du benötigst für die Zulassung im Bereich Creative Arts und Design einen Bachelor in einem ähnlichen Bereich mit einer Regelstudienzeit von drei Jahren. Zu ähnlichen Bereich zählen unter anderem Architektur, Landschafts- und Innenarchitektur, Design und Industriedesign. An einigen Universitäten kannst du diese Studiengänge nicht-konsekutiv, also fachfremd studieren. Hier werden keine Voraussetzungen durch einen ähnlichen Bachelor gefordert. Für fast alle Studiengänge benötigst du ein Portfolio mit deinen kreativen Arbeiten. Damit stellst du deine Fähigkeiten und Kenntnisse unter Beweis. So kannst du dich auch ohne Designvorkenntnisse aus dem Bachelor beweisen und erhältst eine Chance auf einen gewünschten Masterabschluss.
